Crazy Busy Recap: 4 Principles to Help You Get Your Life Back

Today is the last day of January.

Some of you are thinking: Longest. Month. Ever.

Others of you are shaking your heads thinking: Where did the time go? And, you’re realizing you should possibly get around to taking the Christmas lights down.

We’ve spent this whole month walking through this series, Crazy Busy, looking to Jesus for practical ideas and principles on how to get our lives back so we don’t wonder at the end of every day: Where did all the time go? Instead, like Jesus, we want to know what our priorities are, be hyper focused on our mission, and decide how we’re going to spend our time before others decide it for us.

But, I don’t want you to miss what this is all about.

You can walk away from this series with a lot of organizational and practical help, and do everything we talked about and be an incredibly ordered and structured person. But, you could still miss the point. The point is to get our lives back so we can use them to find and follow Jesus.

So, here’s a quick recap:

  1. Make the time. Stop saying you don’t have the time, and start admitting you didn’t make the time.
  2. Figure out what you are supposed to do, and prioritize your time around that. Ask yourself: What are my prioritizes? Then, maintain a fixed calendar so those top things don’t get compromised.
  3. Find the time by saying “no”…nicely.  This will involve identifying distractions and asking yourself: What do I need to say “no” to today, this week, this month, or even forever? Saying “no” to good things allows you to say “yes” to great things.
  4. Make down time or quiet time with Jesus a regular part of your schedule. It’s easy to miss or pass over, but investing in your relationship with Jesus is the best way to spend your time.
