Missed a Meet and Greet?

Over the past several weeks, more than 100 people were introduced to United through a series of Meet and Greet’s where we started sharing the story behind starting a church in Owings Mills.  If you weren’t able to make a Meet and Greet, no worries. We’ve got you covered:

  1. First, I shared a little about my family AKA the Wolfpack. My wife, Maria, and I have five awesome children—all of whom share our passion for church planting.
  2. Then we talked about, “Why church planting?” Get this—church planting is the most effective way to reach people who aren’t a part of any church. If you’ve never been to church or have walked away from church for a season, you’re more likely to go to a church that is brand new than a church that’s been around for a while.
  3. So, why Owings Mills? This is probably my favorite question because the answer is simple, and huge, and gets me so excited. There are 160,000 reasons why Owings Mills. Each of these 160,000 reasons is a person who is not yet a part of any church. A person God created to connect with him and be a part of his greater story.

All about that rice

Two jars of rice sat at each Meet and Greet as a visual for the conversation around “Why Owings Mills?” One of the jars is super small with only a handful of ice.  It represents all the people in Owings Mills who are currently involved in a church. The other jar is much larger and contains 160,000 grains of rice.  This jar represents the 160,000 people who are not yet a part of any church. We want to turn that visual upside down and see that really small jar overflow with rice as those 160,000 people meet Jesus.

That’s why we want to reimagine church. We aren’t trying to do something new or cool or something that has never been done. We just want to be the kind of church that Jesus talked about—a church that invites all people to connect with him.

What now?

Are you on the fence? All in? Not sure? Wherever you are, we’d love for you to join us for our Reimagine Church Nights. Starting in April, we will be meeting one Sunday a month to re-imagine church together and share the vision and values of United.

The first gathering is April 9th, 4PM-6PM, at the Old Post Office, 14 East Chatsworth Avenue, Reisterstown, MD. Here’s what to expect: free food, a family friendly environment, giveaways, and great conversation. No RSVP necessary, so mark your calendars, invite a friend, and join us as we Reimagine Church.
